Meet Lumixa™: One Treatment, Built For Every Skin Goal

If you've been following us on Instagram lately you've probably caught a few teasers and wondered what we were building up to.

Here it is.

 Lumixa™

We're bringing Lumixa™ into SANA Skin Clinic here in Berwick, Melbourne's South East, and honestly, we are genuinely excited about it.

Here's how it happened..

We didn't find Lumixa through an ad, or a rep pitching us on the next big thing. It came up independently, more than once, from trusted experts within the industry, who would not stop raving about it.

They had already been using it themselves and swore by the results they were seeing in their own clients.

But before we brought it anywhere near our clients, we did a lot of research and trialed it on ourselves first. That's just how we do things here. We're not going to recommend something we haven't put our own skin through.

The Story Behind The Science

Lumixa was invented by Dr Francesco Bellini, who holds over 30 patents in the medical field and has dedicated his career working specifically on tissue regeneration.

So this isn't a trend made up by a marketing team, it's the work of someone who built the underlying science from the ground up. That matters to us.

We don't bring anything into this clinic because it looks good, we bring it in because the works and is aligned with us. We were impressed as..

Dr Bellini has genuinely spent his life figuring out how to get the body to repair itself better.

So, what Is Lumixa?

In short: Lumixa is a gel mask, activated under LED, that converts light into photobiomodulation across your skin.

What?!? ..keep reading to find out what this means, how the three versions of this mask can help almost anyone, and why it excites our skin nerdy hearts so much.

The Science Behind Lumixa's Fluorescent Light

Ket's start with the part that actually explains why this works differently to everything else out there - it's worth understanding properly rather than just taking our word for it.

So let's get a little technical for a moment.

A standard LED light, whether it's a device you might have at home or a professional device here in clinic, gives off a specific wavelength of light. The strength varies a lot between an at-home unit and an in-clinic one, but the basic principle stays the same either way, one wavelength, doing one job.

The Science Behind Lumixa's Fluorescent Light

Think of it like a single musician playing one note.

Blue light plays its note, working on bacteria and inflammation at the very top of the skin.

Red light plays a different note, going much deeper, up to about 6mm, supporting collagen and circulation. There are others in between too, green and yellow each playing their own note at their own depth. But whichever one you're under, it's one musician playing one note, and once they stop, that's it, whatever benefit you got, you got from that single note.

Lumixa works completely differently. ...it's like a full band playing all at once.

The gel on your skin contains a fluorophore, and when the LED hits it, the gel takes that single incoming note and turns it into every instrument playing together, a hyperpulsed spectrum running blue right through to red and near infrared, all firing at once instead of one at a time.

So instead of one musician doing one job, your skin gets the anti-bacterial benefit of blue, the fibroblast stimulation of green, the collagen and vascular benefits of red, all in the one session, delivered as pulsed energy rather than a single flat note.

Underneath that, what's actually happening in your cells is called photobiomodulation. In plain terms, the light stimulates your mitochondria, the part of your cells that converts energy, which increases ATP production, the fuel your cells use to repair and renew.

It improves blood flow and encourages the formation of new, very fine blood vessels, which means more oxygen and nutrients actually reaching the skin. And it does all of this while calming the inflammatory response that normally gets in the way of your skin healing itself in the first place, which is important, because inflammation is one of the biggest things that inhibits fibroblast activity, the cells responsible for producing your collagen and elastin.

None of this is guesswork on our part either.

The 80% reduction in inflammatory markers for Skin Normaliser comes from lab testing on real inflamed human skin cells, comparing unstimulated cells against cells treated with standard LED alone versus cells treated with Lumixa.

The seven times increase in collagen production for Collagen Booster was measured the same way, in human fibroblast cultures, using an assay that tracks actual collagen output 48 and 72 hours after treatment.

And Age Control's data isn't just a lab result, it's backed by real patient imaging, using skin analysis technology that scored wrinkles, texture and pigmentation before and after treatment, with some patients showing their measured skin age drop by well over a decade after a course of sessions.

What It Feels Like

Let's set the scene, because this is where the 'full band' actually plays out on your skin.

The gel and goggles go on, the LED switches on, and everything we just described kicks in, every note, every wavelength, working across the surface and deeper layers at once. But you won't feel any of that complexity, you'll just feel this:

You come in for about forty minutes. We start with a proper cleanse, the gel goes on in a thick layer, and then you settle under the light and do absolutely nothing.

Close your eyes, sink into a meditation or some relaxing music, and let it work.

There's no discomfort at all. The only thing you might notice is a light cooling tingle, which is genuinely a nice sensation rather than something to brace for. Our founder Christine tried it on herself before we brought it near a single client, and that tingle is the most you'll feel.

You might walk out a touch flushed, nothing dramatic, and it settles on its own within a short while. We finish with a cleanse, and some custom products and of course SPF to send you home properly. Makeup can go straight back on. No peeling, no lingering redness, no cancelled plans.

The Protocol

The initial course is five treatments, once a week for five weeks, though some concerns may need a few extra sessions depending on severity.

You'll see change building along the way, and optimum results land around week 12 after the 1st Trreatment, which lines up with how your skin naturally turns over.

Once you've completed a full course, maintenance is flexible, individual top-up sessions as needed, or the full five week course again if that's what your skin wants.

Either way, this isn't an instant fix, it's a proper course of treatment that gives your skin time to actually do the work.

Where It Gets Even Better

Lumixa holds its own, no question. But pair it with what we already do best here at SANA and it goes next level.

Just to name 2 examples: Team Collagen Booster with skin needling and you get needling doing exactly what it's brilliant at, while Lumixa super charges the collagen quality and production happening underneath it, real before and afters back this up.

Bring it into a lymphatic detox facial and the two just click, the detox flushes toxins and congestion straight out of the skin, and with that clean canvas, Lumixa has way more room to do its thing properly.

And honestly, that goes for most of what's already in your treatment plan. Lumixa's not trying to compete with anything you're doing, it just makes it hit even more effectively.

Why We Actually Said Yes To It

We are picky about what comes into this clinic.

At SANA we're corneotherapy first, which means the health of your skin barrier comes before any result we're chasing. A treatment either respects that or it doesn't, and for us that's non negotiable. Lumixa does.

It's non invasive, non destructive, not systemically absorbed, and safe across every Fitzpatrick skin type. It works with what your skin is already trying to do rather than forcing it backwards into damage and repair mode, which is exactly the kind of thinking behind our own SANA Method, skin in context.

Three Variations, Three Very Different Jobs

Lumixa isn't just one single treatment, it's three variations, each built around a different patented fluorophore and a different job.

Skin Normaliser contains Fluorophyll N, and it goes after inflammageing, the slow, chronic, low grade inflammation that quietly wears down your barrier and accelerates ageing without you necessarily noticing.

It draws inflammation out of the skin, destresses reactive skin, improves micro-circulation, and reduces inflammatory markers by up to 80% more than standard LED alone.

This is the one we reach for with rosacea, acne, redness, sensitised or reactive skin, and it's also our go to base treatment before any more invasive procedure, since calm skin simply responds better to everything that comes after it.

Collagen Booster contains Fluocumin C, and it works at a structural level, stimulating fibroblasts and driving collagen production by up to seven times within just 72 hours. This is the one for fine lines, early loss of firmness, enlarged pores, and texture that's lost its bounce, and it's genuinely one of the most non invasive ways to get that plumped, Hollywood glow effect without a needle in sight.

Age Control contains Fluorospir, a spirulina derived fluorophore, and it's the most clinically studied of the three, with real patient imaging showing wrinkle reduction of up to 74% and an average reduction in perceived skin age of 8 years, in some documented cases as much as 14 years. This is the one for deeper wrinkles, sun damage, and loss of jawline definition.

All three follow the same five week protocol, and where several concerns overlap, we can tailor a combination across the series, exactly the kind of personalised approach we already build every treatment plan around.

Who This Is Actually For

Let's get really practical, because Lumixa is a genuine answer to a wide range of specific concerns.

If you're dealing with acne, rosacea, eczema, perioral dermatitis, general redness, inflammation, dryness, dullness, barrier impairment or just skin that's sensitive and reactive to everything, Skin Normaliser is where we'd start.

It's also the treatment we reach for as prejuvenation, meaning before anything's even gone wrong, simply to keep the skin calm and resilient, and as the base treatment before any more invasive procedure, since settled skin always responds better to what comes next.

If what you're chasing is a genuine, completely non-invasive way to plump, hydrate and get that lit from within glow, or you want proper skin prep before more structural treatments , Collagen Booster is built for exactly that.

If you're managing more advanced signs of ageing, deeper wrinkles, sun damage, loss of jawline definition, Age Control is where the real transformation happens.

And honestly, age is just one part of the picture.

In your twenties, it's often about keeping reactive or oily skin calm and steady.

In your thirties, it might mean layering in some collagen support as dehydration and the first fine lines start to show.

By your forties and fifties, we're usually blending Skin Normaliser with Age Control to manage skin reactivity alongside more visible signs of ageing, and Collagen Booster tends to take the lead for dullness and texture at any age.

Whatever your skin is doing right now, there's a version of this protocol built around it, and that's exactly what we'll map out together in your consultation.
